Friday, March 2nd marks the 171st anniversary of Texas Independence which birthed the great Republic of Texas. While our heroic Texas patriots were holding off the Mexican army (led by the venal, corrupt,and despotic General Santa Anna) at the Alamo (soon to fall on March 6th), others of our founding fathers were able to gather at Washington-on-the-Brazos to hammer out our Texas Declaration of Independence. Final victory would be ours just 7 weeks later with the decisive Battle of San Jacinto on April 21st, 1836.
The Texas struggle for independence is one of the most inspiring and heroic struggles for liberty, freedom, justice, and self determination this globe has ever known.
